Hello, I'm Rebecca

I have created many types of jewelry over the years and I loved making it all. However, I have finally chosen to narrow my focus on that which brings me joy; Jewelry that speaks to the soul.

Before I chose this path, I worked many years in retail, raised a family, and eventually worked in higher education, where I received my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Sustainability. I believe very strongly in maintaining an environment that is inclusive with all living beings. I am currently progressing down a path to become a Reiki Master which will allow me to become even closer to spirit and self.

Our Team

Hello, I’m Kaĵiko

In High School I played drums as well as ran track. Both of these activities embody part of who I am; I love music and  being outdoors.

I became an avid photographer with a love for macro photography and unusual perspectives. Many of my photos will eventually be in books and galleries soon. I continue to actively seek out adventure that allows me an opportunity to find amazing photographic shots.

Currently I live in the PNW and love the ability to be out in nature where I seek out locations for hammock camping and hiking as these are some of my favorite activities. I am an alum of Marylhurst University, Lake Oswego, OR where I received my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Psychology and Communication.

While taking online classes at Marylhurst, I lived abroad in Spain, and later South Korea, for the majority of my 20s. I taught English in the school systems as a way to travel and expand my  language base while meeting amazing people.

While living in Spain in 2015, I discovered Esperanto and immediately fell in love with the language! I participated in many world events throughout Europe as a participant of the European Youth organization which allowed me to not only meet like minded people but to continue to expand my ability to my multi-lingual. I used this opportunity to travel, explore and meet many wonderful people via couch surfing.

Currently, I own and operate a reptile business, get into nature as much as I can and enjoy family gatherings. I still help out with the business as I am the current photographer and find that I also like making chain maille. One day soon, I may expand my jewelry skills!

The Story Behind Our Name

I chose the name Basilla Rose in homage to my grandmothers. My paternal grandmother lived with us when I was a small child and I spent many hours of my childhood with her. I have come to realize that I bonded with her as my ‘mother’. I looked up to her and thought of her as my female role model.

Unfortunately, she was a very old grandma and passed away at the age of 84, I was only 8. I firmly believe that I gained a great internal strength during the years I spent with her. She lived with malignant melanoma for 40 years - when she was diagnosed she was given 6 months to live.

My maternal grandmother was a very sweet, gentle and kind woman. She also had an inner strength of steel. She relocated from Ukraine at a young age, lived in Shanghai with her mother and sisters and then met my grandfather during WWl. I saw her often and was able to bond with her during our lives until her passing in ‘98.

So, when I think about the great women in my life and how I want to  carry myself in this world, how I want to  be present for you, my  beautiful fellow spirits - it is with the strength and grace of my grandmothers.

The Origin Story

I have always been a creative person and this manifested at a young age. I made ‘jewelry’ for my Breyer horses and Barbies. I carried this passion into my young adulthood and began stringing jewelry with stones, bones, and any natural items I could find. Years later, I began taking wire wrapping classes, chain maille and eventually certifications in metal clay.

My first official class was using PMC through a certification program hosted by Rio Grande Jewelry supply, with Terry Kolvacik as the instructor. What an eye opening experience that was where I learned I could create amazing jewelry without all the years of learning to be a metalsmith! Since that beginning class I have become Level III certified in PMC. I loved the medium so much that I then took a crossover certification with Art Clay Silver, another reclaimed silver company.  I have completed a Master certification in Art Clay Silver and am working on an Accreditation program in Base Metal clay. What a wonderful world it is that I live in!

I have always been a spiritual person and was raised with a Metaphysical background. It is natural, therefore, that I am now pursuing a career in Reiki and spiritual healing; something that is very much needed in our world today. I craft each focal piece of jewelry by hand - something that gives me the ability to infuse each piece with a  high vibrational energy, love, and healing. I have a relationship with my pieces and it is my hope that you, too, will find a connection and  an inner healing when you wear your favorite spirit piece.

I live in the most amazing beautiful PNW and I create your pieces in my Sheena Shed which dwells in my Zen garden.  We have a wonderful relationship and I always greet her when I enter. I also have the pleasure of chatting with my Crow family and watching the lazy squirrels sunbathe outside the south window on my redwood fence.

The jewelry I create stands for more than just a sale to me. It is important to me that the connection with your purchase is uplifting to you and that you are proud to wear your work of art. The mere fact that you found a resonance in my art makes my soul sing and I feel that I have succeeded as an artist. When your heart sings, so does mine, and so shines a bright light in the world.

I thank you for joining me on this spiritual journey - Rebecca
